This is the entry level class in the Public Safety Dispatcher series. This class is distinguished from the journey level by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters as those allocated to the journey level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or no directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.
Public Safety Dispatcher II
FY 24-25: $72,489 - $100,570/year*

This classification will receive a 4% salary increase effective July 2024.
This is the journey level for our Public Safety Dispatcher classifications and does require a minimum of 12 months public safety dispatching experience and must have completed the POST Certified Basic Complaint/Dispatcher course or equivalency examination. Initial on the job training will be provided on our procedures and policies and you will be expected to successfully handle all aspects of the journey level by the end of the on-the-job training period which may vary from 8 weeks up to 12 months depending on experience. Prior to the completion of your probationary period, you will be required to complete the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) certified.
This position is open under the Public Agency Eligibility List – PAEL process, which is an expediated recruitment for Dispatchers currently employed by a public agency, or have been employed within the last year. Available Incentives to Qualified Employees:
Public Safety Dispatcher POST Pays: $100 to $125 bi-weekly
Public Safety Dispatcher Lateral Signing Bonus: $1,500 initial and $1,000 upon the completion of the probationary period
Tuition Reimbursement: $1,200 max per fiscal year on approved classes
